Alone but not lonely, japan times, 3/21/14

Twelve-year-old Takashi Sato, the only student at Onami Primary School in Fukushima, receives his graduation certificate on Thursday. Many residents left the area due to the crisis at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, reducing the number of students to one. “I remember studying alone with my teacher,” said Sato, who attended classes for one year by himself. “I’m proud of being a graduate of this school, and I’ll work to realize my dreams.”
