Fukushima, Feb. 4 (Jiji Press)–Fukushima Governor Yuhei Sato on Saturday approved an outline of a planned bill on central government support for the revitalization of the prefecture hit hard by a severe nuclear accident.
The outline was submitted by Tatsuo Hirano, minister in charge of reconstruction after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that happened last year.
The central government aims to adopt the bill at a cabinet meeting in early February after holding some more discussions with the Democratic Party of Japan-led ruling camp.
In the outline, the central government promises to take full responsibility for the recovery of Fukushima Prefecture from the impact of the accident at Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s Fukushima No. 1 power plant.
The central government will set basic policies toward the prefecture’s comeback and make preparations for health checkups for all local residents and returns home of Fukushima citizens living outside the prefecture as evacuees.
